P-1B Visa: Member of an Internationally Recognized Entertainment Group (I-129)

Temporary Work Visas

The P-1B classification is for individuals coming to the United States temporarily to perform as part of an entertainment group that has been established for at least one year and is recognized internationally for its excellence in the field over a significant duration.

Eligibility Criteria

At least 75 percent of your group’s members should have maintained a significant and ongoing relationship with the group for a minimum of one year.

Your entertainment group must be internationally acknowledged, demonstrating a high level of success in its field. This should be evident through skills and recognition that far exceed what is typically seen, to the point where the group’s achievements are renowned or well known in multiple countries. It is the group’s reputation as a whole that matters, rather than the individual accomplishments of its members or the success of a specific production.

The Process

Your U.S. employer, sponsoring organization, U.S. agent, or a foreign employer via a U.S. agent must submit the Form I-129, Petition for Nonimmigrant Worker, along with the required fee and supporting documents.

Once the petition is approved, the case will be sent to the National Visa Center, which will request that the entertainment group complete and submit Form DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application

The group will then pay the P1-B application fee and schedule a visa interview at the closest U.S. Embassy or Consulate. After the interview, they will receive a decision regarding their visa application.

Conclusion

The P-1B visa provides an opportunity for internationally acclaimed entertainment groups to perform in the U.S., promoting cultural exchange and enhancing the arts.
