P-3 Visa: Artist or Entertainer Coming to Be Part of a Culturally Unique Program (I-129)

Temporary Work Visas

The P-3 classification applies to you if you are coming temporarily to perform, teach or coach as artists or entertainers, individually or as part of a group, under a program that is culturally unique.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for a P-3 visa, you must be entering the United States, either as an individual or as part of a group, to develop, interpret, represent, coach, or teach a distinctive or traditional ethnic, folk, cultural, musical, theatrical, or artistic performance or presentation. Additionally, your purpose must include participating in cultural events that promote the understanding or advancement of your art form. The program can be either commercial or noncommercial in nature.

The Process

Your U.S. employer, agent, or sponsoring organization must submit Form I-129, Petition for a Non-Immigrant Worker. Once the application is submitted, USCIS will review it and make a decision. If the petition is approved, your sponsor will receive an approval notice.

You will need to complete the online nonimmigrant visa application, Form DS-160. Be sure to pay the application fee and fill out all sections of the form, as the embassy will not process your application without payment.

After submission, you must schedule an appointment at the embassy for your visa interview.

Benefits

The P-3 visa enables artists and entertainers to showcase their culturally distinctive talents in the U.S. for performances, teaching, or coaching.

The applicant and their immediate family will be permitted to reside legally in the USA. They are also allowed to attend school. You can travel in and out of the U.S. as long as you possess a valid visa.
